Students collaborate with extreme sports event
University College Falmouth students put their course skills into practice by creating a production team for ThunderCats Race at Watergate Bay. A group of 9 UCF students, coordinated by Events Management student Liam Brennan, have created a production team to cover video, photographic and journalistic content of the ThunderCats WhiteOut event that took place in Newquay on the 19th and 20th May 2012. The students aim was to produce an exhibit of multimedia coverage showcasing the WhiteOut experience.
ThunderCats is a renowned series of powerboat teams that have competed world wide gaining many titles. The high speed, extreme sport has established itself over the last decade with increasing interest growing in Cornwall.
Fiona Pascoe, ThunderCats racing organiser said: “It is great to get the students involved in this exciting series with the assistance of our partner Microlink PC, our community is all about ‘inclusivity’ and it is wonderful to have the team onboard, enabling them to put their skills into practice. Each student has background in water sports, adding a fresh perspective and a new dynamic. I can’t wait to see their creative input.”
