dreamwall, a registered charity set up to foster lasting change in the lives of vulnerable young people, has teamed up with ThunderCat racing, a premier powerboat racing series and community based in Southampton, to provide equality of access to developmental opportunities for young people in care.
As a group, young people in care are significantly disadvantaged the moment they are placed in care. Currently 1% of the population are in care compared to the 23% of the adult prison population who will have been in care.
Working together, dreamwall and ThunderCat racing will expose young people to numerous and different experiences that will inspire, motivate and enthuse those at greatest risk to realise their potential.
This weekend dreamwall is assisting ThunderCat racing at the London boat show and two dreamwall participants will be handing out trophies to race winners. They will see behind the scenes of the event and understand the nuances of promotion, marketing, public relations and time management. This is a classic example of an experience that is not afforded to a young person in care.
Children in care are especially deserving of every chance society can afford. ‘Society pays for its neglect. Children become adults’. Quote taken from Phil Frampton’s ’The Golly in the Cupboard’
