Eastbourne
Extreme returns with an adrenalin rush from 14 – 15 July, as the Thundercat
National Championships join the action packed line up on Eastbourne
seafront. Come watch the thrills and spills of this action-packed motor sport!
The FREE two day outdoor pursuits festival
features even more this year with new land, air and water attractions joining
the ever popular skating and water sports event.
Director of Economy, Tourism &
Environment, Norman Kinnish said “Eastbourne Extreme really ups the ante this
year! The exciting new addition of Thundercats brings Formula One style power
boat racing closer to the shore, ensuring bigger thrills for the crowds and a
great buzz to the event. There really is something for everyone this year,
whether you want to cheer on the racers, have a go at a new sport or just chill
and enjoy the festival atmosphere.”
Thundercats feature in the line up for the
first time ever, with Eastbourne hosting the first leg in a Formula One style
series of power boat races around the UK.
A high profile sport in the Southern
hemisphere, and growing in popularity in the UK thanks to Sky Sports,
Thundercat racing uses specially designed power boats that plane quickly across
the water. The design means they out manoeuvre any other boat of its size and
also means they will be able to race close together in circuits off the Eastern
seafront.
Also off Eastbourne’s shores this year the
UK Windsurfing Association return with races and freestyle events as top UK windsurfers
compete for points and prizes. More racing and demonstrations come from
Eastbourne Rowing and Jet Ski Clubs, and Spray Water Sports open the doors to
their brand new water sports centre with free lessons and equipment for all.
On the ground Eastbourne Skate Association
limber up with amazing demonstrations from freestyle dance routines to high
jump and limbo and BMX riders show off their stunts with jumps and pirouettes
all on a bike.
Flying high, Kite Flying clubs from Brighton
and Kent
will be bringing dazzling displays of colourful kites for the first time. Kent
Land Yachting Club and South East Kiting Association also invite visitors to
try their hand at kite powered buggies and land yachting.
Great for families, the event includes
childrens rides and stalls for shopping, plus the return of live bands at the
ever popular Eastbourne Extreme Band Stage, all adds to the festival
atmosphere.
Open from 11am to 5pm each day, visit
